Assignment 3 Task 1

For assignment 3 me and my group will be making a two minute opening of a TV programme. It will be like a mixture of Top Boy and The Trap which is a UK urban gang violence genre.I will be working with
Myself,Abdiasis,Mansour and Hussein. I hope to achieve full marks by the end of this assignment and make the best possible opening for a TV programme.

What is the genre of the film? The genre of this movie is a romantic comedy. They have a very successful comedian starring in this movie which would give out a lot about the genre. The main idea of this film is to do with a book about relationships for women written by a famous comedian named Steve Harvey.

What key conventions of a film poster can you find? The Title of this film poster is clearly shown in the middle of the poster this is important” think like a man” because the audience will automatically identify the name of the film. The production blurb is clearly stated at the bottom of the poster. There is not a central image of a main character on this poster but the pictures of the characters are spread all around it this probably suggest that this movie is not just about one person. There is also a tag line saying “let the mind games begin” this suggest that this movie is going to be a very intense and competitive one.

What key conventions of a film trailer can you find? The film trailer is of the men in this movie in a basketball gym. There is not many key conventions of a film trailer in this trailer but there is one main one which is the voice over followed by a bit of text every time the voice over character speaks.

What is the target audience for the film? The target audience for this film would mainly be women because it is basically about men playing around with females hearts. The ageing would probably be late teenagers to young adults because they are mainly the victims of these situations.

Why is the film promotion successful? This film promotion was successful because the film trailer was very funny which is good because it will make the audience want to watch this movie. Another reason it was successful was that it has pictures of all the actors on the front cover.

The Dark Knight

What is the genre of the film? The genre of this film is an action/adventure with a little bit of drama. I know this has action in it because of the way batman is standing. He is posing with a muscular look which would be intimidating to the audience.

What key conventions of a film poster can you find?  There are not many key conventions on this poster because it is a sequel from the first Dark Knight movie which was released a couple years before this and had a cliff hanger at the end of the movie so people would know what to expect. This is probably why they didn’t give out a lot on the poster. The central image is a picture of batman standing in a muscular figure. There are two titles in this poster. One at the top that says “rise” and on at the bottom that says “The Dark knight rises.”

What key conventions of a film trailer can you find?  In this trailer you can hear a voice over from the voice of the villain in this movie which is the Joker. He talks throughout the trailer and the more he talks the more action is shown. You are able to hear many explosions in the trailer because they are trying to hint out that this movie is action packed and lives up to its genre. Towards the end of the trailer the famous batman theme tune starts to play and that is when they show the title and the release date.

What is the target audience for the film? The target audience for this film would mainly be a male category because most males are into action and fighting movies, but you can’t forget the main reason-It’s a Batman movie. I would give this movie an age certification of 12A.

This is a very rare thing and would be interesting for batman fans.

Genre- The Genre of this film is action/adventure with a little bit of thriller. The poster tells us this because of the way Superman is standing he looks like he is about to start flying which could possibly be giving out a lot about this movie.

Conventions Of a Movie poster- They have put in a title at the bottom which is clear and bold. It has a central image of Superman giving direct eye contact with the audience which is very effective.


Target Audience- The target audience for this film would probably be for most teenagers so i would give this film an age certification of 12A.

Film Promotion- This promotion of this movie was successful because the poster looks very organised and detailed.Even though it is detailed it doesn't give out too much about the movie.
